We got the basketball Dream Team in the Barcelona Olympics in 1992, but I've decided to take it a step further and put all the time dream team basketball starting lineup. Without further ado here are your dream team starters:
At PG: John Stockton - He's not the all time assist and steals leader of all time for no reason. He is the quintessential "make everybody around him better" point guard. A truly unselfish player. However, if Steve Nash continues to play this well for the rest of his career I might have to give him the nod.
Jump Starter
At SG: Dr. J. (Julius Erving) - I know... I know! Where is Michael Jordan? How on earth could Michael Jordan not be your shooting guard? Quite simply. This is my list and I'll decide who's on my team. Dr J was the original slasher, take it the hoop, and slam it down player. He would be the highlight reel player that every team needs.
At SF: Larry Bird - Arguably, the best pure shooter to ever play the game. He can just camp out behind the 3-point the team has unstoppable weapon. Plus the team needs the grittiness that Larry Bird provided.
At PF: Tim Duncan - How many more championships does this guy have to win before he is recognized as the best power forward of all time? He is the kind of player that just destroys you with the fundamentals. It may bot be exciting but it always gives you the W.
At C: Hakeem Olajuwon - Finally, the man in the middle! In his prime he was absolutely dominating. Just ask Patrick Ewing and Shaq after the 1994 and 1995 Finals. During those series, he proved that he was the most complete center of his generation. An incredible passer as well, he was the complete package.
