Three Misconceptions When Starting a Fitness Program

Mistake one: When starting you spend every day in the gym. Easily one of the most common mistakes someone can make is when they start a program is that they spend the first 2-3 weeks in the gym everyday breaking their body down. The reason why this can go so bad so quickly is that you simply start to become burnt out. The toll you take on your mind can be devastating on one's mind. Another reason is that your body simply needs a break. When you push your muscles pass their normal limits lactic acid starts to build up on them. This lactic acid is the reason why you feel so sore after a workout. Your body needs a break to metabolize the acid from your muscles. Yes you can focus different muscle groups different days but your body will eventually catch up on itself. The last reason is that that much continuous exercise greatly increases your chance for injury, Between the stress on your body, stress of a new workout, and the stress on your mind you can destroy a program before you can even begin to see the results.

Mistake two: Fat burners paired with diet and exercise will yield better results. The second part of this mistake does in fact yield better results. Diet and exercise will make you healthier. These supplements give your body's metabolism a jump start when starting a workout program to help you begin the fat burning process. Sounds perfect right? Wrong. While these supplements do help your body lose fat they should not be taken all the time. There is serious health risks when taking these. Your body can quickly become dependent on these supplements and when you stop taking them your body will go through withdraw and your metabolism can actually slow down permanently. The big thing to take away from this is not to look for a short cut to a workout program or a diet. Take pride in the work you put into your body becoming healthy.

Mistake Three: A workout is simply that. Work. While it does take hard work and a lot of time to get your health where you want it to be but you have to make it fun to keep you coming back consistently. Working out is not a job. Thats a huge misconception people have. Its an investment, the work you put into your body will yield returns in the form of positive health. Do research and look up articles and videos that other people are doing and adapt it to your own workout plan. This will make it less monotonous and will give you new challenges. Try making a playlist of music you like and bring that along. The best thing that I can offer you is to bring a friend. Not only does it give competition but it also keeps you motivated.
